Products
In the Facilities section, the manufacturing processes of products and by-products generated in LIBITEC's facilities are indicated in a generic way. The different products and by-products obtained at the plant are described below.
BiOdiesel
Biodiesel
Depending on the type of feedstock used, the possible types of biodiesel are available:
Biodiesel from vegetable oils
- RME: Rape Methyl Ester (Rapeseed Oil Methyl Ester)
- SME: Soya/sunflower Methyl Ester (Soybean or sunflower methylester)
- PME: Palm Methyl Ester (Palm Oil Methyl Ester)
- FAME: Fatty Acid Methyl Ester (Fatty Acid Methyl Ester).
Biodiesel from used vegetable Oils and/or animal fats
- UCOME: Used Cooking Oil Methyl Ester (Recycled used Oil Methyl Ester)
- TME: Tallow Methyl Ester (Animal Fat Methyl Ester)
Biodiesel from advanced materials
- POMEME: Palm Oil Mill Efluent Methyl Ester (POME Methyl Ester)
The biodiesel obtained in the plant complies with the list of specifications required to be marketed in any form (pure or blended with diesel). In particular, EN 14214 is applicable. However, sometimes customers do not require full compliance with the regulations, and contractual specifications (described in the purchase/sales contract) must be met, i.e. “Biodiesel à la carte”.
BiOdiesel
Technical Glycerine
Technical glycerine is a very high performance product based on glycerol, especially designed for commercial valorisation in new lines of exploitation in industrial uses, mainly as energy (biofuel). Given the particularity of the use of second generation products in the processing plant, this application is completely ruled out, resulting in its use only and exclusively for industrial exploitation and not for food use, thus guaranteeing the exclusion of this type of product from the food chain (EXPLICITLY: NOT SUITABLE FOR FOOD CONSUMPTION).
The quality of the product achieved is variable, depending on the customer’s needs, and can have a glycerol richness in the range of 75 % to 85 %. Given the biodiesel manufacturing system, the glycerin produced generally has a low level of sulphur, and the type of ash it contains is generally of the NaCl type.
BiOdiesel
Distilled Fatty Acids and/or Internal Oleins
Both by-products are of very high performance, especially for their use in energy recovery. Their main application is as a biofuel or raw material for biodiesel production. These by-products are generally not commercialised, given that the plant has an esterification unit suitable for processing this fraction generated and obtaining additional biodiesel; however, the decision to operate or commercialise will depend exclusively on economic reasons and/or supplier/customer requirements.
BiOdiesel
Refined Oils
In addition to the main product of the plant (biodiesel), a co-product consisting of refined oil can be obtained in the plant. This product serves as the basis for supply to other biodiesel plants and/or oil refineries (co-processing) and/or Hidrobiodiesel plants. In this case, the quality of the refined oil depends on the final customer (according to the refining needs of his process) and there are no standard technical quality specifications.)
BiOdiesel
Bioheating Oil
Bioheating is a very high-performance product, especially for use in energy recovery. Its main application is as a biofuel.
